An all-new Toyota Prius GT300 race car has been revealed at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon.

The GT300’s styling is based on the redesigned 2016 Prius, while the new race car also borrows some of the tech systems from the road-going car. Toyota says that the electric motor found in the GT300 is derived from the motors in the standard Prius, though no details beyond that were offered. The car is designed and run by APR Racing.

Rather than using a small four-cylinder gas engine like the road-going Prius, the GT300 race car mates a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V8 to its hybrid motors. Unlike the previous Prius race car though, the engine is mounted in the front of the car, rather than being mid-mounted.

While the nose of the race car simply resembles the new Prius, the taillights are actually the same units as those used on the standard car.

Watch for full details on the car to be revealed soon.
